Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, urges to mobilize efforts to organize mobile medical facilities, stating that “a cheapskate pays twice”.
That’s how he commented on a report made by Tatyana Golikova, Deputy Prime Minister, who provided the President with details concerning the situation with arrangement of mobile vaccination sites instead of fully equipped medical facilities in some regions.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that this issue is being discussed with the Ministry of Industry and Trade since such medical facilities need to be “more seriously and comprehensively equipped than vaccination sites”. In particular, such facilities are expected to use equipment manufactured by Russian companies, which can be replaced with imported one “only if there is no analogous equipment available in the Russian market”.
“I would like to tell Tatyana Alexeevna [Golikova] and Denis Valentinovich [Manturov, Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade] that we should keep in mind a well-known Russian proverb, “a cheapskate pays twice”. You are now arranging mobile vaccination sites but later you will get back to this issue and will be producing mobile medical facilities which imply more serious and expensive equipment”, Putin said at the meeting with cabinet ministers.
The President emphasized that “it’s much better to do what we need to do all at once than to revisit the same issue two or even three times”. “I do understand that we need to assess capabilities of the industry, but it would be much more feasible to mobilize our efforts right now, and to do this comprehensively, thoroughly, and for many years to come”, noted the President.
